The Premier 1794 Half Cent – Graded AU50 by PCGS

1 in stock

This desirable early American half cent dates back to 1794, the first year of production for the denomination. Struck at the Philadelphia mint, it features Lady Liberty on the obverse and a wreath on the reverse. The surfaces show light wear consistent with the AU50 grade assigned by PCGS, one of the most respected third-party coin certification services. While not mint state, an AU50 coin still retains much of its original luster and design details, with only minimal friction on the highest points.

As one of the very first half cents produced by the newly formed United States, this coin has tremendous historical significance. The denomination was authorized in 1793 as part of the Mint Act, making this 1794 issue part of the inaugural Type 1 design. With a limited original mintage of just 81,600 pieces, survivorship for this one-year type is lower than later dates.

This coin offers collectors an affordable example of this historic and popular one-year type. The attractive light brown surfaces still possess ample eye appeal. Any collector specializing in early copper or early American coins would be proud to add this AU50 1794 half cent to their cabinet.
